My Journey as a Professional Organizer
Susie Marsh, LBSW
I have also enjoyed mentoring my fellow organizers here in West Michigan who are just entering or expanding their focus in the field and want to grow, experience and learn about the profession and its national association (NAPO) which ensures ethical and quality services by its membership. My NAPO and NAPO Michigan memberships continue to be important resources for me to continue my education and training in the field along with the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) which focuses on chronic disorganization challenges. I hold level 1 certificates in ADHD, Aging, Life Transitions and Hoarding. I am a NAPO Golden Circle member and Residential Specialist.
I was the first professional organizer to sit on the Grand Rapids Hoarding Taskforce and have worked hands on with many clients over the years with hoarding disorder. I also had the opportunity to be a part of the A & E television series "Hoarders: Family Secrets: episodes 6 & 8" in 2015. It was a great experience of learning and team work!
I am a long standing member of the Caregiver Resource Network (Area Aging on Aging West Michigan) since 2003 where I continue to connect with other professionals who serve the older population and those with special needs. In my local community, I have been serving on the board of the Gun Lake Business Association and Winterfest Committee.
My continuing passion & focus of SOS is to help others on the path to organization and gain freedom from clutter challenges. I welcome and am inclusive in working with all people no matter their background or community.
Hello! I am Susie Marsh and I am a 17+ year veteran of the professional organizing field, as well as, a social worker working in the mental health field in West Michigan for the past 35+ years. I have helped many clients over the years find their peace with their “stuff” and make their homes functional and inviting spaces. I have always enjoyed helping others. My experience as a professional organizer along with my social work training has allowed me to continue to help others work through their challenges, find motivation and meet their goals.
About NAPO
What is NAPO? Why is my membership important as a Professional Organizer?

NAPO’s mission is to empower its members by providing quality education, fostering connections through a vibrant knowledge-sharing community, and offering opportunities to elevate their skills and expertise.

I joined NAPO in 2008 with a desire to learn the professional organizing industry and also find out the best practices in providing quality services to my clients. NAPO has been an integral part of who I am as a professional organizer for the past 16 years through its education and networking opportunities. I found the people like me who love organization & productivity! I also found wonderful colleagues with whom I work together on projects and have made great friends across the state & nation!
I expanded my membership in NAPO by becoming a Michigan chapter member in 2013 and joined the board as Vice President in 2016, where I served for 4 years. I rejoined the board in 2023 as the Secretary and continue to serve in this role. I also have served as the Golden Circle and West Michigan Liaison. I mentor and reach out to professional organizers across the state to introduce them to NAPO and NAPO Michigan to continue to bring awareness of the organization, it’s benefits of membership and standards of excellence in providing professional organizing & productivity services to the public.
In my non-SOS time, you will find me enjoying the outdoors by walking, hiking, biking and spending lots of time on the lake with my friends and family! I am blessed to live in the Gun Lake area which is full of wonderful lakes and nature adventure opportunities!
